Title: Business Manager
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Classification: Classified
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Staff.
JOB SUMMARY:  To assist in the administration of the district’s business affairs so as to provide the maximum educational services for the financial resources available, as well as to help assure the necessary accountability for the district’s financial operation.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Additional duties may be assigned.
  • Checks and codes all invoices and prepares for payment, provides list to all Board of Education members.
  • Prepares the district’s payroll.
  • Receives and accounts for all funds associated with the various school programs and organizations.
  • Maintains records on employees’ retirement, social security, and benefit information, and completes paperwork pertaining to these areas.
  • Prepare and publish Auditor’s Report and Annual Secretary to the Board Report.
  • Maintains records of travel expenses on all employees.
  • Receives all receipts and ensures that all are deposited in the bank.
  • Yearly preparation of district handbook calendar, including monthly and weekly updates.
  • Transfers all activity fund receipts to the bank for deposit.
  • Prepare end-of-year financial reports as required by Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • On a monthly basis, invests excess funds with the financial institution that provides the highest interest rate.
  • Prepares district financial statement on a monthly basis with the cooperation of the district’s treasurer.
  • Maintain individual files for all grants, entitlements, programs, etc.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statement.
  • Maintain records and issue checks for all scholarships under district control and/or responsibility.
  • Assist with budget preparation.
  • Transportation (October, June)
  • Maintain bond and interest coupons.
  • Maintain employee records (vacation, sick leave, sick leave pool).
  • Prepare and check out materials to the auditor for annual audit.
  • Perform all other office work and duties as directed by the superintendent of schools.

The Business Manager shall have:
  • A college degree
  • Degree in Finance and business preferred
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of computers and business machines.
  • Any other requirements may be deemed necessary by the Board of Education.
  • The employee will complete a satisfactory criminal/abuse and neglect background check in accordance with state law and Board policy
