CONTRACT/SALARY: 182/179 days; Teacher Salary Schedule
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Director of Special Education
POSITION SUMMARY: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of society.

POSITION SUMMARY: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of society.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- Masters Degree in Speech Pathology, Missouri Certification
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with personnel, students, and patrons in individual and group settings.
- Knowledge of current speech and language strategies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure delivery of appropriate services to students.
- Develops and maintains compliant Individual Education Plans.
- Conducts speech and language screenings.
- Collaboration with all special education staff that service students.
- Demonstrates leadership and organization skills in developing a schedule to service students as per their IEP.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives appropriate for meeting goals and stated objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Provides for his or her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
