Job Description:
Part-time Parents as Teachers Parent Educator
Position Summary: The Parents as Teachers Parent Educator serves as a family educator and resource to provide the information, support, and encouragement families need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. The PAT Parent Educator will increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices; provide detection of developmental delays and health concerns, prevent child abuse and neglect, increase child’s school readiness and school success in collaboration with area schools and the PAT Program Coordinator.
Basic Requirements:
1. Minimum of 60 college credit hours
2. Gains and maintains National Parents as Teachers certification.
3. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
4. Individuals with parenting experience, preferred.
5. Personal, licensed, insured, and reliable transportation required.
6. Working knowledge and competency in computers and computer based programs (Microsoft Office, Visit Tracker).
7. Ability to work independently.
8. Excellent human relation skills.
9. Follow federal, state, and local legal guidelines and Board policies and procedures.
Flexible schedule to meet PAT family’s needs, reliable transportation. Ability to complete the PAT certification process. Training fees paid by the district.
