Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, fun and nurturing classroom environment.
- Provide meaningful content instruction that builds students' skill sets and prepares students for success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as a committed lifelong learner.
- Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades, discipline, etc.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents as full partners.
- Ensure that assessment results are utilized to plan effective individualized outcomes and meet individual student needs
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities which will promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child
- Develop lesson plans with goals, objectives, activities and outcomes for children that integrate a creative, progressive and nurturing approach
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Education, or a closely related field. from a four-year college or university.
- Certification in Middle School Education
- Prior experience in a teaching position is preferred, specific to working in Middle School educational setting
- Private school experience preferred but not required
- ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;
- demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to maintain integrity;
- ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion;
- ability to build a cohesive team and be flexible;
- knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and programming;
- sensitivity to cultural differences; ability to create a positive and harmonious workplace;
- ability to understand individual learning styles and their influence on the well-being of students and climate of Epstein Hebrew Academy.
