Job Description:
The Richmond R-XVI School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Specialist's degree in an education discipline; doctorate degree preferred.  Proven track record documenting enhanced student achievement; documented success within and among diverse student populations and demonstrated success leading strategic educational initiatives.  Previous building level leadership experience required.
 
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Superintendent provides leadership, vision and strategic direction for the District's school improvement initiatives.  The position requires a strong academic leader who can clearly see both possibilities and obstacles and develop a plan of action to move academic achievement forward.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Assists the superintendent in directing the administration and coordination of the district's educational programs.
  • Provides staff leadership to ensure understanding of the educational objectives of the district.
  • Supports district and school leaders to design and implement plans designed to improve student achievement.
  • Collaborates with appropriate individuals to project staff needs and provide appropriate staff development.
  • Sets priorities and measurable goals and effectively manages district resources to support priorities and goal achievement.
  • Keeps informed on latest research, trends and developments in all areas of education and interprets these matters for staff.
  • Recommends instructional policies and assists in developing administrative rules.
  • Supervises, through building level administrators, the educational program.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for the superintendent of schools and board of education.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local statutes and board of education policies as they relate to education programs.
  • Develops budgets and manages and evaluates budgetary needs and activities for areas reporting to this position.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures and programs.  Resolves concerns and conflicts in a reasonable manner.
  • Monitors and evaluates work performance of employees reporting to this position.
  • Recommends to the superintendent of schools the employment, promotion or termination of the staff employed to carry out the educational programs of this position.
The Richmond R-XVI School District is an accredited district and uses the Professional Learning Communities model for professional development.  Richmond is located approximately 45 miles northeast of downtown Kansas City, MO with just over 6,000 residents and a Pre K - 12 population of approximately 1550 students.
