SALARY RANGE:  $95,000-$125,000

SCHEDULE DETAILS:  Full-time/12 month/This is grant-funded with a limited term appointment.

Position Summary
The Executive Director of rootEd Missouri will be responsible for growing the number of students in rural Missouri who choose additional education or training beyond high school. The Executive Director will ensure the effectiveness of the current program and will lead the initiative across the state, communicating a long-term vision, investing stakeholders, and building coalitions to ensure current and future success. The Executive Director will oversee a team who focuses on program design and implementation, measurement and evaluation, and continuous improvement and also work closely with the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education to ensure program success. This is a full-time position, reporting to OTC’s Chief Strategy Officer.

Essential Job Duties 
  • Builds a long-term vision, goals, and strategic plan for the rootEd Missouri initiative, inclusive of a plan to scale the program, in partnership with critical stakeholders
  • Travels regularly across the state to observe rootEd sites, meet stakeholders, and communicate about the rootEd Missouri initiative   
  • Creates a communication plan and systems to introduce the program and maintain investment in the program across all critical stakeholders inclusive of school district leaders, professional organizations and community leaders
  • Leads a team who designs and implements the program, measures and evaluates on the initiative, and builds a plan for continuous improvement
  • Identifies and elevates the evidence-based strategies that improve postsecondary readiness and attainment for Missouri school students based on program data
  • Manages the rootEd Missouri budget and all subcontracts
  • Exhibits exemplary attendance and punctuality
  • Complies with college policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for increasing opportunities for rural high school students
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role, including policy analysis, advocacy work, strategy development, program implementation, and partnership development
  • Strong relationship builder across a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Prior experience leading, supervising, and managing a team
  • Proven track record of project execution and attainment of performance goals 
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial experience and the ability to successfully solve complex problems, handle multiple priorities, and work in a deadline-driven environment with limited support staff or supervision
  • Exhibits exemplary attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to travel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite)
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Prior experience in school district or non-profit leadership.
  • Prior experience launching and managing a cross-sector, grant-funded initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and present clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
