Principal Vacancy Announcement

Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy, a K-8 charter school (enrollment 400) is seeking a passionate, proven, dynamic leader to serve as building principal.  The building principal will be one who leads and oversees the growth and development of our academic programs.  The successful candidate will work with the superintendent in hiring personnel and will lead the academic charge and mission of our school.  The successful candidate will also work staff, students, families, and our community to build solid and successful relationships to advance the progress of our school.  The principal will set performance objectives, implement and monitor school policies and safety protocols, and create action plans for school success.
The successful candidate will be a strong decision maker and should have a comprehensive understanding of the national, state, and local education systems and regulations.  The successful candidate should be able to offer proof of how their decisions have positively impacted achievement and should be able to provide proof of strategies used when success was not immediately achieved.
 
Responsibilities
  • Work with superintendent and staff to create vision for school
  • Serve on district office team
  • Oversee day-to-day school operations 
  • Set and maintain atmosphere that is conducive for positive school culture
  • Manage school logistics and budgets
  • Provide instructional vision, targets, and goals for staff
  • Set learning goals for students and teachers based on national curricula
  • Monitor and report on teacher performance
  • Meet weekly with instructional coaching team to review and monitor academic progress
  • Work with instructional coaches and staff to create intervention plans for students not meeting weekly academic goals
  • Work with Dean of Students to create positive behavior plans for students and reduce discipline
  • Meet weekly with superintendent to review academic progress and study research based methods to continue to improve professionally
  • Present data from school performance to superintendent
  • Research new resources and techniques to improve teaching 
  • Interview and hire school personnel, along with superintendent
  • Review and implement school policies 
  • Provide guidance and counseling to teachers and staff
  • Handle emergencies and school crises
  • Organize school events and assemblies
  • Collaborate with superintendent and finance office in creating and monitoring budgets
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for students 
  • Attend meetings and conferences as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in School Leadership – required
Experience as a school leader – preferred
Able to provide proof of Missouri certification (school leadership) or willingness to immediately obtain certification
Able to pass background check

Qualifications
Master’s Degree in School Leadership – required
Experience as a school leader – preferred
Able to provide proof of Missouri certification (school leadership) or willingness to immediately obtain certification
