Job Description:
Kirkwood School District is seeking an experienced High School Principal to lead school efforts by developing and executing a shared vision and mission for all district goals.  Reporting to the Superintendent, the Principal will develop a school plan based upon school needs and district goals, implements school plan and assess school plan to assist in establishing district and school goals.

Summary:
The principal will create an environment that motivates employees to do their best. They will frequently provide career counseling and development training opportunities. Delegates authority and work responsibilities in order to provide the best opportunities for employees. The principal is viewed as model for fair and consistent behavior. Highly respected by staff and peers for ethical standards. Also, the principal is someone people enjoy working for and with. Viewed as a model for communicating performance standards and providing continuous, effective feedback to employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides ideas for the development of district goals; interprets and/or clarifies district goals to students, staff, and community; implements district goals; assists in the assessment of district goals. Develops a school plan based upon school needs and district goals; implements school plan; and assesses school plan to assist in establishing district and school goals.
  • Evaluates the educational programs; initiates and encourages curriculum development and implementation; supervises and evaluates for the purpose of improving instruction, develops and promotes professional growth for staff; facilitates the setting of instructional strategies; coordinates instructional program; assists in establishing levels of expectations for student achievement; evaluates student progress/needs both individually and in groups to demonstrate effective instructional leadership.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive school climate; works effectively with students; relates effectively with staff; relates effectively with parents; relates effectively with community agencies to establish and maintain a positive tone and atmosphere within the school.
  • Develops and maintains school budget and expenditures and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment for successful fiscal management; assumes the responsibility for the care, maintenance, and scheduling of the school plant and facilities to assure they are cl ean, orderly, and conducive to a positive learning environment for successful plant management; utilizes effective school management practices, supervises school programs and activities, demonstrates effective skills in the recruitment and selection of school personnel, delegates authority and responsibility when appropriate and provides support to the employee assuming the responsibility, maintains accurate records and submits reports, demonstrates effective skills in problem analysis, decision making and judgment, demonstrates effective organizational ability for effective school management.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of board policies and directives and carries out duties and responsibilities as outlined by district policies and procedures in order to participate in the development and implementation of district policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates personal motivation and self-discipline; effectively tolerates stress; demonstrates sensitivity to others; and demonstrates involvement in professional growth activities to demonstrate personal and professional traits characteristic of an effective administrator.?

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Possess Missouri Certification as a Teacher
  • Possess Missouri Certification as a Secondary School Administrator
  • Reliable transportation

Pay range:
$143,000 - $168,000
