Job Description:
The School District of Clayton is seeking a long term substitute Spanish teacher at Clayton High School for the spring 2023 semester.
The successful candidate will be academically talented, fluent in Spanish, be well-versed in American high school foreign language pedagogy, be knowledgeable and skilled in managing students in a U.S. classroom, able to differentiate instruction and access learning using a variety of methods, and be proficient in English. Our district values the ability to work with diverse students and colleagues; success in creating inclusive classrooms; and experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. 
The Successful Candidate:
  • Is knowledgeable about high school philosophy and the developmental needs of students and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach.
  • Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction.
  • Holds high expectations for all students and serves as a facilitator of student learning.
  • Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
  • Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
  • Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the field and continues to deepen understanding of the discipline(s).
  • Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
Education:  Bachelor's Degree required.  Major or Minor in content area required.  Master’s Degree preferred.
Certification:  Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
Experience:  Preferred.
Compensation:  $175/day
Benefits: Not Eligible
FLSA Status:  Exempt, Professional Exemption-Teacher.
Work Calendar:  6-8 weeks beginning in mid December
