SUMMARY: Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in providing effective oversight and implementation of the district professional development program.  Will collaboratively plan and coordinate training for certified staff with the goal of maintaining high standards of teaching excellence for effective instructional practices that lead to the academic improvement and achievement of all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates staff development training for all district certified staff
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Assessment to analyze student achievement data to determine professional development needs.
  • Collaborates with administrators and teachers to review School Wide Plans to identify training needs.
  • Conducts needs assessment surveys for staff development on a regular basis to evaluate, improve, and report on program effectiveness.
  • Maintains and updates district professional development website and calendar.
  • Maintains District Professional Plan with alignment to meeting goals of the District’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, National Staff Development Standards, and the State of Missouri Guidelines.
  • Coordinates the District Instructional Coach program
  • Facilitates Teacher Mentor Program for beginning teachers.
  • Serves as chair to Professional Development Committee to include the facilitation of the annual Teacher of the Year process.
  • Coordinates and plans collaboratively with Human Resource’s New Hire Orientation.
  • Prepares reports and make presentations to the Special Administrative Board and office of Curriculum and Instruction as requested.
  • Assists departmental administrators with the coordination and planning of departmental professional development as needed.
  • Manages and coordinates Title IIA federal funding in collaboration with grants management.
  • Reviews CSIP and School wide Plans for staff development.
  • Ensures compliance with the Standard for Professional Development from the National Staff Development Council and aligns the District's Professional Development efforts with State Guidelines.
  • Analyzes and uses data to identify professional development needs and to evaluate, improve, and report on program effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Supervises Instructional Coaches in collaboration with building principals.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient at performing the above noted duties and responsibilities.  The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 
  • Master’s Degree in education required.
  • Valid Missouri State Teacher’s certificate required.
  • At least five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Experience in coordinating and/or facilitating Professional Development preferred.
  • Knowledge of professional development resources and organizations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Successful completion of background check by Human Resources.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Year: 12 months
Salary:  Coordinator range on the District Administrative Salary Schedule
