Miriam Learning Center (MLC) is looking for a full-time counselor who is passionate about improving the lives of a wide range of students with the supports and autonomy that come with being an expert in your field.
MLC is a program designed for students ages 2 through 25 who need educational and/or social emotional support. Special education services are provided within schools or daycare centers, the student's home, and our clinic.

POSITION: FULL TIME LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER or PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR (EARLY CHILDHOOD FOCUS)
STATUS: FULL-TIME, YEAR-ROUND, WORKING WITH EARLY CHILDHOOD AGE CHILDREN
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree from accredited school
  • Licensed or provisionally licensed in the state of Missouri (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC)
  • One year of experience assessing and treating the psychological and educational needs of children, preferably in a school setting
  • Familiarity and comfort with treating children age 2 to 5.
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Knowledge of the DSM 5 and ability to diagnose (if fully licensed)
  • Trauma informed
  • Own transportation to multiple sites
REPORTS TO: Behavioral Health Coordinator, Miriam Learning Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Counselor evaluates the psycho-social needs of children and makes appropriate recommendations to improve functioning at school, home, and in the community. He/she provides individual, group and/or family counseling. Settings for work duties include on-site at community preschools and day care centers, and in-home counseling opportunities as they arise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. To provide a comprehensive and professional assessment of each child's psycho-social issues.
  2. To render a DSM 5 diagnosis, when appropriate.
  3. To make appropriate recommendations based upon assessment results.
  4. To provide individual, group and/or family counseling using a CBT model.
  5. To complete assessment reports in a professional and timely manner.
  6. To determine an appropriate treatment pathway for a child/family.
  7. To maintain contact with other professionals at the Center, in the school, and with the family to ensure coordinated treatment efforts.
  8. To submit notes and billing in a timely manner.
  9. To refer the child and/or family for community services as needed.
  10. Provide social skills training during summer camp and help with camp administration during the summer months.
  11. To work with preschools and daycares to help them understand the program and to refer children.
  12. To participate in marketing efforts.
  13. Any other duties as specified by the supervisor.
