MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TERMS: Full-time with benefits; Placement on Teacher Salary Schedule; 185 day contract (5 additional days)
EFFECTIVE: 2022-2023 school year

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
Recommendation to be given at the July 2022, Board of Education meeting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree/Valid State of Missouri counselor certificate for grades K-8
- Knowledge/experience with developmental issues and appropriate counseling strategies
- Missouri teaching certificate preferred
- Implement guidance curriculum
- Encourage staff involvement for the effective implementation of guidance curriculum
- Effectively manage student behavior
- Help students establish goals and assist in students’ development of self-assessment skills
- Counsel individual students and small groups to meet varied needs
- Manage the comprehensive guidance program
- Provide support for other school groups
- Communicate appropriately with students, parents, community and staff
- Be available to all students seeking guidance and counseling services
- Advocate on behalf of the student and/or the student’s family
- Connect students, parents/guardians, and staff with specialized referral agencies
- Understand, evaluate, and interpret academic performance data
- Serve as the school testing coordinator and assist the district assessment coordinator with the dissemination and collection of all testing materials
- Other duties as may be assigned
