MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree/Valid State of Missouri counselor certificate for grades K-8
• Knowledge/experience with developmental issues and appropriate counseling strategies
• Missouri teaching certificate preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement guidance curriculum
• Encourage staff involvement for the effective implementation of guidance curriculum
• Effectively manage student behavior
• Help students establish goals and assist in students’ development of self-assessment skills
• Counsel individual students and small groups to meet varied needs
• Manage the comprehensive guidance program
• Provide support for other school groups
• Communicate appropriately with students, parents, community and staff
• Be available to all students seeking guidance and counseling services
• Advocate on behalf of the student and/or the student’s family
• Connect students, parents/guardians, and staff with specialized referral agencies
• Understand, evaluate, and interpret academic performance data
• Serve as the school testing coordinator and assist the district assessment coordinator with the dissemination and collection of all testing materials
• Other duties as may be assigned

TERMS: Full-time with benefits; Placement on Teacher Salary Schedule; 185 day contract (5 additional days)
EFFECTIVE: 2022-2023 school year

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt
