Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: To serve as the program leader and to promote the Nursing Program.  The implementation of the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program, Missouri Key Skills and Core Competencies and District-identified student outcome is the focus of the department’s purpose and educational goals.
  1. Must have current Registered Nurse license in the State of Missouri; BSN preferred.
  2. 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  3. Current CPR/AED certification
  4. Must know current ideas and trends in the health area.
  5. Education - Bachelor’s Degree.
  6. Advanced Nursing Degree Preferred
Knowledge/Skills –
  1.  Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  2. Must have computer skills.
  3. Must have the ability to maintain composure.
  1. Areas of Responsibility:
          Examples of Work Performed:
  1. Coordinate the District Nursing Program under the supervision of the Coordinator of Student Services and the Assistant Superintendent Chief Informational Officer.
  2. Serve as a contact and resource for the daily nurses’ issues, problems and crises; and, communicate with St. Louis County Health Department.
  3. Coordinate the interviews, hiring, assignment and orientation of new nurses with the Coordinator of Student Services and buildings’ administrators.
  4. Coordinate the annual new nurse orientation.
  5. Coordinate the annual District required training for the nurses.
  6. Coordinate the annual recertification for AED, CPR and Basic First Aid.
  7. Coordinate the Medicaid Reimbursement Program and provide annual in service to nurses, counselors and social workers.
  8. Coordinate the hiring and assignment of substitute school nurses.
  9. Coordinate monthly nurses’ meetings and appropriate in services.
  10. Coordinate the AED, Gateway Dental, Human Growth and Development and Colgate Toothbrush programs.
  11. Coordinate state and county reports on required health screenings.
  12. Coordinate technology services for the nurse programs (electronic forms, logs, MIS, website) with the Assistant Superintendent Chief Informational Officer.
  13. Coordinate annual Flu Clinic.
  14. Coordinate annual parent, staff and students’ surveys.
  15. Participate as an active member of the District’s Wellness Committee, Records Committee and the Missouri School Nurse Association.
  16. Coordinate the annual standing orders updates with the Medical Director.
  17. Coordinate the annual inventory of nurse’s clinics and supplies.
  18. Coordinate with St. Louis County Health , the CDC and the Coordinator of Student Services programs on Communicable Diseases, Pandemic Flu, St. Louis County Flu Watch and Immunization updates.
  19. Coordinate nurses for summer school and registration sites.
  20. Coordinate annual audiometer calibrations with outside vendors.
  21. Maintain and annually update the Nurses’ Manual and nurses’ forms.
  22. Review and maintain nurses’ film library.
  23. Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures for the facility or medical unit.
  24. Maintain awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options.
  25. Review and analyze facility activities and data to aid planning and cash and risk management and to improve service utilization.
  26. Manage change in integrated health care delivery systems, such as work restructuring, technological innovations, and shifts in the focus of care.
  27. Inspect facilities and recommend building or equipment modifications to ensure emergency readiness and compliance to access, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  28. Consult with medical, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, respond to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities and plans, and promote health programs.
  29. Maintain and organize local partnerships with organizations that provide free medical care for families and community members. This would include scheduled times for vaccination sites around the district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to 260 day work calendar; 8 hours per day vary; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
