Position: Director of Communications & Public Relations
Qualifications:
General Summary: This position is a strong communicator that connects the internal and external audiences of Willard Public Schools. Working with a variety of individuals each day, the Director of Communications & Public Relations is a great multi-tasker with a strong pulse on our Willard community. An outgoing, positive attitude that enjoys a fast-paced environment is a must. Commitments and attendance outside of the standard work day may be required.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the unique district community.
- Highly organized, enthusiastic, and energetic with ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Background in public education strongly preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Produce a concise and interesting flow of information and celebrations to all patrons including parents, community leaders, and Willard residents.
- Ensure the following tools are being utilized to best serve the District’s mission.
- Social media
- Maintain a positive presence on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram daily.
- Website
- Mass notifications
- Crisis/emergency/alert communications
- Snow day/inclement weather
- Threats/medical concerns
- Personnel announcements
- Video communications
- Media relations
- District level e-newsletters
- Social media
- Oversee building level web sites and provide support to the buildings on web pages as needed.
- Primary contact for District internal and crisis communications.
- Participate as part of Superintendent’s Advisory Cabinet and act as communications advisory for administrative team.
- Act as the primary liaison between community organizations.
- Act as primary media contact for district inquiries.
- Assist in executing district wide events including staff convocation, community gatherings, end of year celebration, ground breakings, etc.
- Manage the informational campaign for potential school bond/levy issues, as well as progress updates throughout bond projects.
- Execute press releases to celebrate district achievement or disseminate important information.
- Write and distribute Board of Education Recap/memo following monthly BOE meetings.
- Recruit and engage patrons in district focus groups for feedback.
- Participate as an active member of Missouri School Public Relations Association and Willard Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
- Perform others duties as required and/or assigned.
