Job Description:

LOCATION: To Be Determined
DETAILS: 10-month support staff position for the 2022-23 school year, with district-recognized holidays and paid sick and personal leave. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position, with a district provided benefits package that includes employee health, dental, life and vision insurance.
COMPENSATION: This is an hourly paid position paid in accordance with the Support Staff Salary Schedule for the 2022-23 school year. The Salary Schedule for the 2022-23 school year has not yet been determined. When the salary schedule is set, the salary will be in alignment with the new schedule. This is a full-time hourly position with initial placement starting at $12.67-$14.58. Pay placement within the Health Room Assistant range is determined based on relevant education and work experience. Pursuant to board policy, for initial placement a maximum of 5 years of experience may be applied to the Support Staff Salary Schedule.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides routine and emergency health care for students under the supervision of the school or district registered nurse. Provides medication administration and minor first aid to students and staff.  Maintains health files, updates immunization records, and assists with other various record-keeping duties.
  • Requires a High school diploma or GED
  • Requires transportation in order to travel to and from various buildings throughout the school district
  • Prefers candidates with an RN license or bachelor’s degree in nursing, but not required
  • Prefers candidate to be a graduate of a medical assistant program
  • Requires current CPR, First Aid, and AEDS (defibrillation equipment) training, or willingness to complete
  • Prefers prior experience working in a health care setting
  • Requires good organizational and interpersonal skills to work with students and staff
  • Requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Requires strong word processing, data entry, spreadsheet and database skills; prefers experience with student data management databases (SIS, PowerSchool, etc.)
  • Requires the ability to present information and respond to questions from parents and school staff in a positive, professional manner
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively with students in redirecting and using positive reinforcement
  • Requires the ability to solve problems and respond to situations in a calm, caring manner
  • Requires the ability to work independently, use good judgment, and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations
  • Requires the ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural population
  • Requires the ability to remain flexible & positive with the demands of the job without losing sight of the mission, task, or assignment
  • Requires the willingness to learn new material and, as needed, attend professional development
  • Requires the ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with building and district staff
