GSA DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Reports to and Evaluated by District Superintendent 

JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the development of quality staff and to coordinate the effective implementation of the Concept Schools Academic Model. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position. 
  • Master’s Degree (Educational Leadership/Curriculum & Instruction) with a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
  • Appropriate Administrative License (emphasis in educational administration preferred)
  • Experience in various aspects of school administration and other qualifications the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Knowledge of the administrative/support services that a school system provides
  • Ability to interpret and implement all Board policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements
  • Strong facilitation skills in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional services for the district
  • Knowledge of governmental statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction, curriculum, student learning, and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the laws
  • Conflict resolution skills to help resolve complaints, difficulties, and other matters related to instruction, curriculum, and student learning
  • Administer the school district’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Goals
  • Knowledge of report preparation at district level reports that are required by law or are requested by the superintendent
  • Effective coordination of the district's academic program grades K-12 in conjunction with the Concept Schools Academic Directors (CSAD), superintendent, principals, department heads, and teachers
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinate the district's academic program grades K-12 in conjunction with the CSAD, superintendent, principals, department heads, and teachers 
  2. Develop and evaluate the district's educational/instructional program to ensure conformance to state, authorizer (sponsor), and school board standards
  3. Assist the superintendent in the district's long-range planning for instruction and serve as a consultant to staff/principals regarding instruction
  4. Work collaboratively with CSAD to understand how all concept academic department curricula and resources align with states and create/update documents that show the mapping of curricular resources and assessment tools for the district
  5. Work with the district superintendent and school principals to create a school calendar, assessment calendar, and academic events calendar
  6. Facilitate training and implementation of Danielson Framework for teaching with the administrative team and licensed staff
  7. Manage data collection system (Talent Ed) for teacher observation and evaluation 
  8. Provide plans for the development of a clear and comprehensive assessment of student achievement and interpretation of results to staff, Board, and community
  9. Recommend district-wide direction as a result of the analysis of student achievement data
  10. Direct the development of the District Improvement Plan and supervise the writing of School Improvement Plans. Provide leadership and consultation to individual schools as needed
  11. Provide leadership in seeking grant funds and assist in writing and implementing grants to support Board priorities and district direction
  12. Provide direction and leadership to the school admin team for effective implementation of district-wide SEL, Equity, MTSS, and PLC initiatives and programs 
  13. Coordinate district-wide professional development programs and assist individual building principals in addressing their needs 
  14. Represent the district within the community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for the district Mission, educational goals, and/or assisting with issues related to the school environment 
  15. Participate in administrative meetings, board meetings, and other such meetings as required or appropriate
