Position Overview

The Director of School Culture leads the region’s efforts to create a positive, structured, safe, joyful, nurturing and academically focused school culture across EAGLE’s four K-8 schools. Our graduate aims focus on ensuring scholars strive toward academic excellence, develop the ability to critically think, are self-aware, develop empathy and integrity by improving their relationship,leadership, and communication skills. The Director of School Culture works closely with Principals and leadership teams to set and drive a vision for productive and equitable school culture including systems, structures, routines, and traditions.

Responsibilities of the Director of School Culture include, but are not limited to:

Design and lead the region’s culture vision and strategy across all schools


? Implement and monitor a strategic multi-year student culture priority plan that includes creation of a vision for alignment of culture systems and social emotional learning (SEL) across all schools
? Build out regional systems to codify and further define school culture expectations across grade bands to ensure consistency of experience for students and families
? Lead data collection, assessment, and progress monitoring process to evaluate effectiveness of school culture initiatives including data and assessments related to service coordination and school-wide implementation of culture initiatives
? Integrate culture-related systems in conjunction with the Director of Student Support Services in order to align these approaches with academic, special education, and mental health interventions
? Implement and monitor an initiative to increase SEL through adoption of the Second Step curriculum and Panorama diagnostic

Design and lead professional development for staff

? Plan and lead monthly leadership communities of practice
? Coach, support, and develop leaders and staff on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to implement with students and families
? Model, co-facilitate, and observe SEL curriculum (Second Step/Panorama) implementation ? Support with the coaching and management of student services team managers

Lead our regional culture policies and procedures

? Ensure consistent implementation of research-based SEL and positive behavior interventions aligned within a multi-tiered intervention framework
? Serve as the Regional point person for school based behavior escalations, including but not limited to expulsion and suspension meetings, discipline hearings, etc.
? Partner closely with school leaders on whole-school issues, such as school climate, staff self-care, retention of teachers, attrition, suspension, and expulsion rates
? Demonstrate sensitivity and skills needed to work with families, students, and staff from diverse cultures and backgrounds

Qualifications and competencies

Desired Qualifications/Competencies

? A minimum of five years of experience in education or related fields (required)
? Experience in a school-leadership role (required)
? At least four years of team leadership and/or cultural leadership experience in a K-12 setting (preferred)
? Ability to demonstrate broad knowledge of school systems functioning, classroom and culture, trauma informed practices, and models for working with diverse populations including students with disabilities
? Specific knowledge of Second Step and/or Panorama is preferred
? Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
? Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize efforts according to organizational goals
? Ability to anticipate and seize new opportunities that are aligned with strategic goals
? Deep belief in being part of and helping lead a multi-cultural, anti-racist organization
? Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
? Track record of exceptional results working in urban areas
? Bachelor’s degree (required)
