LENGTH OF CONTRACT:  11 month - 213 days (183 teacher contract days + 30 days)
SALARY:  Minimum Base Salary -  $78,485.00 - Final salary based on education and experience
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Administration experience & Special Education experience preferred
  • Missouri State Teaching Certification - Administration K-6 - Required
  • Missouri State Teaching Certification - Special Education - Required
Assists the Building Principal and Assistant Principal by performing administrative duties while providing instructional leadership and supervision of the special education program.  Process special education paperwork, complete achievement assessments and assist the school Psychological Examiner in completing evaluation reports.  Assists in ensuring that all students acquire the grade level expectation skills set forth by Missouri Department of Education and Hillsboro R-3 curriculum.
  • Assists the Principal in promoting the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation and stewardship of a vision of learning.
  • Assigns disciplinary action to K-6 grade students attending the Special Education Center while also assisting the Principal with disciplinary action for 3-4 grade students at the Elementary building.  Specifically includes detention, O.S.S., parent conferences, as well as keeping accurate records of each transaction.
  • Assists Principal in analyzing and evaluating the operational procedures of the school and involves stakeholders in the decision-making process.
  • Assists Principal in management of the organization, operations and resources for a safe, efficient and effective learning environment.
  • Assists in the evaluation of teachers and designs and implements decisive and comprehensive professional development plans for teachers identified as needing assistance.
  • Assists in the development of the best professional practices by researching, writing and using smart goals; using data for vision driven change; and planning continuous comprehensive school improvement. 
  • Establishes individual relationships with staff members that focus on the professional development of that staff member.
  • Uses varied principles, theories and models of management that support effective learning and teaching.
  • Assists with the Care Team, to identify and assist students and parents that need help and act as a resource for providing that assistance.
  • Studies and makes appropriate recommendations relative to the Student-at-Risk programs.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of alternative learning opportunities.
  • Confers with teachers, students and parents concerning educational activities, policies and student behavioral or learning problems in school.
  • Conducts relevant assessments in special education related to referrals and reevaluations.
  • Reviews and processes paperwork to facilitate special education services such as reviewing existing data meetings, developing assessment plans, facilitating documentation for transfer students, reviewing and assisting with Individual Education Plans (I.E.P), and managing initial case referrals.
  • Serves as a legal education agency representative for Hillsboro R-3 Schools by attending meetings and ensuring compliance with special education processes, standards and laws.
  • Serves as a resource for parents, teachers, counselors, building administrators, para-educators and other parties by providing resource materials and consultation, assisting with instructional strategies and best practices and facilitating training as needed.
  • Assists the school Psychological Examiner to conduct evaluations, write and interpret diagnostic reports and consult with team members.
  • Assists school staff with manifestation determination meetings, functional behavioral assessments and behavior improvement plans.
  • Acts as a liaison between special education staff and upper levels of management.
  • Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and other legally required documentation for special education students.
  • Recognizes and refers students encountering medical, physical and/or psychological problems to District specialists as required.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with the parents, involving them in their child’s education.
