Education and Experience:
- Minimum requirement of 60 college hours or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment or completed Missouri's online substitute training program
- Special Services Teacher Certification or previous Special Services Paraprofessional experience, preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position
- Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
- Prepares lesson outline and plan in assigned area and submits outline to teacher for review
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids
- Creates learning materials geared to student’s ability and interest
- Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques
- May prepare, administer, and grade examinations as directed by the teacher
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
- Works closely with Special Services teacher(s) for the success of the students
- Maintains discipline
- May confer with parents on progress of students as directed by the supervisor
- Supervises students during class, learning activities, and at play, as assigned
- Takes all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- May be required to transport students or to accompany students in transport as directed by supervisor
- May be required to assist students with personal cleanliness and self-care
- Complies with policy, procedures, regulations, and law
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
