2022 - 2023 School Year

Primary Objective
  • Amplify the District's voice throughout the district community
  • Lead the ongoing merger (initiated in fall of 2021) of the Communications and Alumni Relations departments
  • Utilize a variety of communication tools such as social media, email, video and print media to inform and highlight District happenings with students, families, community members and WGSD alumni
  • Ensure district print and electronic communications are accurate, timely and aesthetically pleasing to readers
  • Regularly communicate public relations guidelines with district staff
  • Coordinate or help coordinate special district projects and events such as the annual Staff Recognition Ceremony and bond issue dedication events
  • Co-lead the staff’s Opening Day Event
  • Work with the department and WGSD Foundation to connect and engage with alumni and district donors for a variety of purposes, including to fundraise 
  • Direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities of the Communications and Alumni Relations Department and its staff
  • Advise administrators and the Board on public and community relations issues affecting the district 
  • Establish and lead ad hoc committees related to community relations topics as needed
  • Lead all media relations, including serving as the chief spokesperson for the district
  • Coordinate and align communications at the district, and possibly school level, to accomplish the goals of said communications 
  • Lead the development and distribution of informational brochures, newsletters, etc. 
  • Work with school leaders and staff to ensure positive stories and happenings from schools are regularly communicated and received by stakeholders 
  • Coordinate e-communications for schools and the district via email, text messages and School Messenger
  • Oversee district, school and district web sites to ensure quality and continuity
  • Lead district communication efforts during school, community or regional emergencies
  • Coordinate public forums as needed
  • Coordinate the District’s participation in community festivals or events such as the 4th of July Parade
  • Manage the department's budget
  • Attend school board meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of communication experience preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to develop, direct and coordinate multiple programs and activities
  • Degrees in Journalism or Communications preferred
 Minimum starting salary: $104,661
