Job Description:
The Pleasant Hill School District is currently seeking applicants for the position of: Special Education Cross-Categorical Teacher, Middle School, 2022-23 School Year
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with cross categorical certification
The successful candidate will:
  • be able to work collaboratively with regular education and special education teachers
  • possess the ability to deliver effective specialized instruction within a regular classroom setting and resource setting
  • possess creative instructional ideas to benefit all learners
  • demonstrate familiarity with mathematical concepts
  • proactively plan for instruction for students with major academic delays
  • have knowledge of key aspects of Math and ELA curriculum
  • actively use differentiated instruction
  • willingly utilize a variety of co-teaching structures
  • be able to effectively collect data on a regular basis
  • use data to plan and drive instruction
  • view co-teaching as a partnership; participate in open dialogue
  • be willing to work with students individually or in small group
  • work as part of the special education team in the building
  • be able to implement behavioral management techniques with students.
  • be familiar and able to work with students with diverse handicapping conditions
  • be able to work with and coordinate services for students with paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech/ language therapists
Successful Special Education Teacher Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong abilities in the development and implementation of strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of diverse needs.  Candidates must have a strong understanding of accommodating and modifying the general education curriculum for students with disabilities.  Special education teachers must have the skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic needs.
