Job Title:           Virtual School Administrator
Reports to:        Superintendent
Supervises:       Virtual School Academy Advocates
FLSA Status:     Exempt
Contract Days: 12 Months
Salary:                Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience               
JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Virtual School Administrator is to direct, supervise, and oversee the Virtual School Academy including programming, scheduling, staffing, enrollment, attendance, assessment, and ensure student success.  Other areas of responsibility are organized around web page management for the organization, social media management, marketing, education technology and systems including SIS, the Student Information System.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Virtual School Administrator
  • Works to investigate new virtual education opportunities for students K-12.
  • Works with parents and students to find the educational pathway that leads to success.
  • Works with principals, administrators and counselors to create learning opportunities for students across the organization.
  • Ensures the virtual program supports and aligns with school goals and policies.
  • Identifies and pursues new virtual pathways for students.
  • Manages enrollment and re-enrollment, admission and communication of class assignments and class loads for virtual courses.
  • Inspires excellence and teamwork in a group of employees that are physically distributed in different location.
  • Thinks creatively to find solutions using an educational model that is unique and innovative.
  • Manage and implement testing procedures for Virtual school students as required.
  • Maintain agreements with approved and selected curriculum providers and vendors.
  • Supports the instructional and social emotional needs of students 
  • Collaborates with building administrators and school counselors to meet student needs and implement appropriate support and direction for an on-time graduation.
  • Maintains current knowledge on best practices and trends for online learning.
  • Monitors the effectiveness and success of the Virtual School 
  • Monitors student progress, pacing and completion rates, ensuring that academic and or behavioral targets are met.
  • Organizes program and plans for implementation of state and local curriculum guides; manages instructional program; advises teachers on instructional methods, materials, and techniques; and directs school staff development program for teachers in coordination with building principals.
  • Establishes program rules, regulations, and procedures consistent with school rule and practices; interprets, enforces and adheres to regulations and policies.
  • Prepares, distributes, and updates Virtual School expectations in school handbooks.
  • Identifies and communicates unique budget requirements.
  • Interviews and participates in the process for employment of school personnel in the virtual academy; collaborates with building principals on evaluations as necessary
  • Orients new employees to the Virtual Academy; assigns and schedules staff; recommends appointments to leadership responsibilities as appropriate; maintains necessary personnel records; establishes and communicates substitute plans and procedures for virtual staff absences.
  • Leads/assists teachers in maintenance of appropriate classroom management; counsels students; confers with parents; administers discipline as appropriate; and reports disciplinary action as required.
  • Coordinates with home schools on maintenance of student enrollment and attendance records; monitors reporting of student progress; assures appropriate instruction is prescribed for students with a diagnosed learning disability; establishes methods of evaluating the progress of individual students and the effectiveness of instructional programs in each virtual classroom and in the school as a whole.
