Vacancy Title:  Residential Life Administrator
Annual Salary:  $64,104
Job Location:  This position is located at 3815 Magnolia Ave., St. Louis, MO
Essential Functions:  This is a 12-month position with primary responsibility for planning, coordinating and supervising activities for students enrolled in the Residential component of the Missouri School for the Blind’s programs.  The Residential Life Administrator serves as member of the Leadership Team and oversees the daily operations and staff assigned to the Residential program.  The incumbent must have the ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without reasonable accommodation.
  1. Plans, coordinates and supervises a variety of activities designed to provide students opportunities to practice the skills taught through the education program, work, explore leisure recreation opportunities and community experiences.
  2. Serves as a mentor and role model to students as they explore hobbies, engage in new experiences and develop social skills.
  3. Supervises employees as assigned.
  4. Coordinates weekly transportation of residential students.
  5. Works in concert with the Assistant Superintendent and Leadership Team to ensure cohesive operation of our school’s services.
  6. Works in cooperation with the Professional Development Coordinator and Leadership Team to provide staff training and professional development designed to refine staff skills and promote MSB’s vision, mission and beliefs. 
Prerequisites of the Job:
  1. Proven history as an energetic, flexible and strategic thinker, who is a good communicator and team player with a passion for working with persons with disabilities.
  2. Understanding, patience and appreciation for students as unique individuals who are growing, developing and learning.
  3. Ability to conceptualize, plan and implement new and creative program initiatives.
  4. Knowledge of programming in a variety of areas including but not limited to physical fitness, art & crafts, cooking, intramural sports, self-care and employment.
  5. Proven ability to share MSB’s vision and motivate others to engage in student programming and their own professional growth at a high level.
  6. Ability to effectively supervise staff in a variety of disciplines.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Education Required/Preferred:
  1. The successful individual will have a Masters’ degree in Recreational Therapy, Fitness and Recreation or a related area.
  2. Three years of supervisory or programming experience (preferred).
