Job Description:
Position type: Full time- Serving students 6th to 12th Grades                                                                                      
  • Starting rate of $25/hour
  • Benefits include 50K life insurance, 70% of health and dental insurance paid by the school; 75% of each class up to $3,000 tuition reimbursement per year; 8 sick/personal days and retirement benefits through Public School Retirement System of the City of St. Louis, PSRSSTL.
  • Insure 100% of students have up-to-date immunization records by Oct.10 each year
  • Ensure all staff are aware of major health needs (allergies, chronic issues, etc.) (Provide in-services for staff.)
  • Keep clear, organized records that can be easily interpreted by others (use SNAP medical charting software)

What you will do....
  • Utilize the nursing process components of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to care for ill children during the school day
  • Care of chronic illnesses and care and prevention of illnesses
  • Ensure proper administration, storage, and inventory of prescription and nonprescription medications
  • Make referrals and maintain up-to-date contact information for primary, urgent and emergent medical and dental care service providers as needed
  • Regular communication with parents including the request of medication refills to ensure students always have medication on hand
  • Create and maintain individual health care plans each school year for students with medical concerns (e.g. asthma, seizure disorder, diabetes, etc.)
  • Create and update Medical 504 Plans for students with health concerns that require classroom accommodations, with School Counselor
  • Conduct annual Vision and Hearing Screenings
  • Meet as a member of IEP and 504 teams, gather information and input for intervention strategies
  • Maintain individual student health folders
  • Update and capture student immunization records list
  • Serve as a member of the enrollment team to ensure all scholars have up-to-date immunizations on the first day of school
  • Record keeping and compliance with all state health regulations and requirements including reporting immunization status to be reported to  the district lead nurse.  
  • Assist in  contact tracing and communication with staff and families of positive COVID cases.  Notify the Public Health Department of positive COVID cases
  • Registered by the state of Missouri to practice Nursing and Up to Date CPR Certification
  • RN highly preferred
  • Two years’ work experience as a Nurse; experience as a Pediatric or School Nurse preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, familiar with Microsoft Office
