Job Description:
Miriam Academy serves high school students with unique learning needs in an environment designed to help them excel. Small class sizes, specialized faculty and individualized instruction centered on students’ strengths help to build a foundation for success.

Project-based learning strategies and occupational therapy are incorporated to meet each student’s needs as they earn their high school diploma and prepare for college or career.

The Associate Head of Transition Services will act as a leader of grades 9-12 to support the students and their families in obtaining services necessary to transition into high school and a post-secondary setting. This position is an administrative role providing educational and overall program support as needed.

  • Administers and completes paperwork as needed to support student individualized learning plans (ILPs), evaluations and transition paperwork
  • Disseminates information to faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians regarding student needs, progress, and resources
  • Coordinates transition activities for post-secondary education, employment, or long-term support
  • Works collaboratively with the Head of School regarding the hiring, retention, and the assignment of faculty
  • Supports faculty in implementing best practices to support of Miriam’s mission and vision
  • Serves as the main point of contact to attract, enroll, and retain students in grades 9-12 and implements an efficient process of recruitment activities and visit experiences
  • Collaborates with Head of School and faculty to create schedules as needed
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to promote Miriam Academy
Required Education/License/Certification(s) and Experience
  • Missouri certified special education teacher and/or a certified administrator
  • Master’s degree in an education related field
  • 5+ years experience as a teacher or administrator in grades 9-12
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop relationships, and work with a diverse group of stakeholders
