Job Description:
 Summary:  Clerical Level 1 performs a variety of clerical tasks that require initiative, independent judgment and making decisions within established policies.  Duties frequently require discreet and tactful handling of sensitive and confidential material.  Good interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with diverse publics.

*Primary Responsibilities
*Monitors persons on leave to ensure that doctor's statements are received and complete. Communicates with persons on leave via email, phone, and written correspondence. Verify eligibility of leave and notify employee of leave status in accordance with federal law.
*Ensures that all persons requiring/requesting non-paid leaves are sent to the Board of Education for approval.
*Submits appropriate paperwork to payroll regarding leave status and changes to leaves.
*Maintains attendance records for staff reporting to Employee Labor & Relations Specialist due to leaves of absences.
*Audit attendance regarding leaves of absences for payroll deadline. 
*Process short-term disability applications for employees on leave. 
*Compiles statistical data regarding leaves of absences for year-end review.
*Develop and maintain communication and online information regarding leaves.
*Receives inquiries from SSD staff either by telephone, in writing or in person. Determines purpose of inquiry and furnishes information from knowledge of district leave options, (policies and procedures) resolutions, state & federal law, to SSD staff, the public, agencies, etc.
*Interprets and solves problems based on knowledge of the district policies and procedures, resolutions, district leave options, state & federal law, etc.
*Establishes and/or maintains employee and correspondence files pertaining to leaves of absence. Assures confidentiality of various material and information pertaining to leaves of absence, salaries, payroll, etc.
*Keeps Employee Labor & Relations Specialist informed of departmental issues and concerns.
*Knowledge of Excel, Word, Work Force Management (WFM), Lawson, Docuware, Google programs.
*FMLA experience preferred.
Performs other related work as assigned.
