Job Description:
Mexico Public Schools is now accepting applications for a Library Media Specialist Teaching position for the 2021-2022 school year at Mexico Senior High School School.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.) Bachelor’s degree in job related area   2.) Valid Missouri Teacher Certificate for Librarian or Library Media Specialist at the appropriate level REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 185 (includes 4 holidays) days with benefits provided according to Mexico Public Schools. New teachers are required to attend New Teacher Week in addition to the 185 days.
JOB GOAL:To provide students and professional staff with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth and aid students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources. Also, to supervise computer lab for student use, to take care of routine maintenance of computer lab and to provide computer-related information to students and staff.

    2. Provides instruction and orientation is the use of the library.
    3. Evaluates, selects and requisitions new library material and equipment.
    4. Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials and makes library materials available to supplement the instructional program.
    5. Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new material the library acquires.
    6. Instructs professional staff and students in the use of equipment.
    7. Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library material and instructs teachers and students in the use of the system.
    8. Maintains a comprehensive inventory of all materials and equipment.
    9. Arranges for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers or students.
    10. Provides information about other library services available in the area.
    11. Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended us of library resource.
    12. Works with teachers in the production of instructional materials.
    13. Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities.
    14. Maintains an accurate circulation record and provides for the collection of fees for overdue or lost materials.
    15. Serves as a resource person in curriculum.
    16. Arranges frequently changing book-related
    17. Prepares and administers the library budget.
    18. Supervised library clerks and volunteers in the performance of their duties.
    19. Weeds obsolete and worn materials from the collections.
    20. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
    21. Supervise computer lab use. Set up system for student use from study halls and other classes and monitor students. Maintain good discipline at all times. Enforce school rules in lab and take appropriate disciplinary measures.
    22. Maintain lab by dusting and keeping machines clean and in good working order, keeping hard drives free of student files, reporting technical problems promptly to district computer person, installing software as needed and doing any other routine maintenance that may be suggested by the district computer person.
    23. Participate in technology related professional development activities.
    24. Provide explanations and directions on use of lab and its programs to students and staff.
    25. Help with data entry and other support activities deemed necessary by the principal.
    26. Maintain a complete technology inventory for the school.
    27. Assist in coordination of technology maintenance requests for the school.
    28. Responsible for facilitating reading plans with small groups and/or individual students.
