Job Description:
 Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform trauma informed/social and emotional learning (TI/SEL) casework service with individual students and groups to provide intervention for those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
  • Coordinate or serve as an active member of building-level resiliency teams, care teams, and educational planning and placement committees and provide intervention-based planning and support for students at need.
  • Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and providing information on a student, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior.
  • Perform casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents’ understanding of their constructive participation in resolving their child’s challenges and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
  • As needed, make home visits for the purpose of fostering positive home/school relationships and gathering helpful information on student’s backgrounds to establish necessary supports in the school environment.
  • Provide social-emotional learning opportunities for students throughout the school day, giving students the chance to learn and practice SEL skills along with academics.
  • Directly teach social and emotional skills, emotion regulation strategies, and conflict resolution skills to individual students and small groups.
  • Proactively identify ways to increase inclusion opportunities for students.
  • Assist students in transition directly with challenges and adjustments to school.
  • Facilitate restorative circles for the purpose of community building, repairing harm, and restoring relationships, and re-entry into the school community.
  • Provide TI/SEL and crisis intervention services and supports.
  • Plan and implement professional development training programs for faculty, staff, students, and community members on topics related to SEL, Trauma-Informed Practices, Restorative Practices, and Wellness.
  • Utilize Panorama/Schoolzilla to track and analyze school data trends related to the effectiveness of the SEL/TI/RP program. Also, utilize these programs to identify students in need of additional support.
  • Conduct non-evaluative TI/SEL/RP walkthroughs and coaching for colleagues.
  • Provide leadership in the area of Wrap Around Services. For the purpose of student wellbeing. Engage student service providers, manage agency relationships, and evaluate partnership impact on behalf of the school, students, and/or families.
  • Support building administration and sit on building-level leadership meetings as requested.
  • Create SEL, Restorative, and Wellness-based student leadership groups.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education and experience in Social Work, School Counseling or K-12 Education experience.
  • Master’s degree from a graduate school of social work program (MSW) or Master’s degree in counseling preferred.
  • Minimum of a 500 clock hour supervised social work or counseling practicum and internship is preferred.
  • Experience and training in social and emotional learning, trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional articles/journals, technical procedures, or government regulations, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with developing adult learners through professional learning presentations.
