Genesis School located at 3800 East 44th Street, Kansas City, MO 64130 is a Public Charter school serving kindergarten through 8th grade. School hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Beginning as a VISTA program in 1975, Genesis School has served the academic & social development needs of students in order for them to be successfully in their educational journey. Genesis adapts learning structures to meet the individual needs of students, while targeting high academic achievement for all.

Description:
LOCATION: Genesis School, A K-8 public charter school serving 250-300 students.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director 
SALARY: Open: Salary depends on experience
WORK YEAR: Full-time 
The K-8 Principal/Academic Director is the instructional leader of the school.  The Principal leads the delivery of educational programs, school operations, and the management of the staff within the school to ensure that the policies and procedures are followed, state standards are achieved, and that the educational needs of all students are met.

Job Summary:
  • Sets ambitious goals for academic achievement and leads school community towards achieving results.
  • Fosters high student achievement and provides learning experiences which help all students meet or exceed the Missouri state standards.
  • Develops and maintains a safe and welcoming learning environment where all individuals are respected.
  • Leads and collaborates with building personnel to implement curriculum and instructional programs that support learning opportunities for all students.
  • Coordinates the involvement of various building stakeholders: staff, parents/guardians, students--in the development and implementation of policies that create a strong school culture and enhance opportunities for students.
  • Conducts classroom observations, provides direction and evaluates the effectiveness of staff.
  • Plans for, leads, supervises, and coordinates professional development that results in increased staff capacity and improved learning results.
  • Develops building processes and procedures dealing with student learning and behavior.
  • Makes decisions relating to human resources within the school, including but not limited to hiring, discipline, training and development, performance appraisal, and related activities. 
  • Monitors the completion of reports, records, and communications required by the State of Missouri.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Missouri K-12 Principal or Elementary license preferred.
  • Elementary administrative and teaching experience preferred. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community.
  • Successful experience in facilitating educational change.
  • Experience in developing and implementing site-based decision-making.
  • Current knowledge and experience in supporting instruction.
