POSITION: Director of Technology
  1. Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skill needed to maintain and manage a multi-software computer network in an educational environment.
  2. Previous leadership experience in the management of technology systems in an educational or business setting.
  3. Good interpersonal skills.
  4. The ability to provide instruction and training in the use of technology.
  5. Demonstrate a willingness to pursue additional training as needed.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To provide students and staff with the opportunity and knowledge that will 
enable them to utilize available technology systems, equipment and software in an efficient and effective manner in order to enhance the teaching learning process.
Plans, maintains, and manages client/server applications related to classroom software and the administration systems for the administration office, building offices, and building classrooms.
  1. Maintain district-wide network.
  2. Update software on network servers and individual computers as needed.
  3. Conducts research, analyzes specifications, design systems, and implements technology security systems to protect District resources and data.
  4. Evaluates and leads technology staff and its procedures, serves as the technology liaison to the School Board with monthly reporting and presentations as needed.
  5. Coordinates with all District personnel on the purchase of technology
  6. Conducts training for new teachers.
  7. Works with the District staff to plan and implement professional development for technology, District technology inventories and software licenses, and standards for students, teachers, administrators, resources and support.
  8. Provide training for faculty and staff.
  9. Coordinate services with outside vendors.
  10. Maintain modem bank for off-campus network access.
  11. Advise administration on system upgrades, hardware and software purchases.
  12. Maintain individual computer labs.
  13. Keep abreast of the latest hardware and software technology.
  14. Provide input in the technology budget process.
  15. Perform minor hardware repair and replenish non-durable supplies.
  16. Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for systems and hardware.
  17. Attend conferences and training seminars as needed.
  18. Supervises research of systems used, efficiency analysis, and successful implementation of the various technologies.
  19. Provides security of school systems by designing and implementing firewall, virus protection, anti-spyware software, backup systems, wireless network security, phone network and other policies as they are needed.
  20. Supervises District technology inventories and software licenses.
  21. Updates information and ensures inclusion of information to meet state requirements.
  22. Develop hardware and software specifications for bid proposals.
  23. Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.
EMPLOYMENT: Competitive salary based on years of experience and degree, 12 Month Contract
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
