English Learners (EL) Teacher
2021-2022

Qualifications:  Requires valid Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages (ELL) teaching certificate.

Position Summary:  To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

• Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
• Identifies ELL student language proficiency level and develops strategies for individual learning plans.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to link ELL and content standards in order to provide support to English language learners.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each ELL student.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Uses differentiated instruction and interventions to meet the needs of English language learners.
• Ensures that communications to parents are translated into parents’ home language whenever possible.
• Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or principal.
