Job Description:
Open until filled. The executive director of technology will have equal knowledge in both information technology and instructional technology, equipping him/her to be a comprehensive technology leader. The executive director of technology will ensure our district’s technology (information services and instructional support) can meet curriculum goals and prepare students for future success.
 
Qualifications:
  • Hold a Missouri State Department Primary/Secondary School Principal Certificate (preferred).
  • Preference given to holding a master’s degree in school administration.
  • Preference given to administrative or supervisory experience.
  • Sound knowledge of instructional practices and technology integration.
  • Working knowledge of information technology departments.
  • Experience in a STEM-related discipline and/or experience in a STEM-related career.
 
Reports To:  Assistant Superintendent of Schools
 
Job Goal:  
  • Lead the district technology vision.
  • Utilize the comprehensive technology plan and service level agreements to ensure quality technology services.
  • Manage the district’s use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, support individualized instruction, and ensure equitable access.
  • Coordinate the district’s comprehensive K-12 implementation of STEM education.
 
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Manage the implementation, updating, and maintenance of the District Technology Plan framework.
  • Oversee daily technology department operations.
  • Manage all communication with the community as needed. 
  • Manage to install networks, equipment, peripherals, software, and evaluating third party contracts to do the same.
  • Collaborate with building representatives and administrators to inform district-level technology planning including hardware, software, and instructional life cycles.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about hardware and software in use in the district via district inventory systems.
  • Analyze district networks, hardware, and software to identify possible waste, future problems, and duplications in order to make the most efficient use of district resources and enhance the efficiency of district technology operations.
  • Ensure goals for maintenance and repair service benchmarks are met.
  • Manage district level E-rate, purchasing, special projects, and technology budgets.
  • Manage emergency decisions concerned with technology managed power, equipment failure, and similar disturbances.
  • Advise the district on the selection of new hardware, software, and network modifications or applications that will enhance the efficiency of district technology operations.
  • Support educational technology integration.
  • Stay current on instructional practices being used district-wide in order to inform technology decisions.
  • Work with Information Technology, Instructional Technology, and Data Services to ensure technology works to support instruction.
  • Collaborate with and allow for the visionary leadership of library media specialists/instructional coaches and assist with professional development.
  • Keep data on and create reports regarding the implementation of instructional technology.
  • Ensure technology supports a consistent, rigorous, and equitable educational experience.
  • Facilitate a short and long-term plan for the District to integrate the following STEM principles into the instructional program: technology infusion; rigorous, project-based, and applied learning experiences; internationalized school-to-career connections for students; and 21st-century skills.  
  • Collaborates with all STEM stakeholders to ensure access to support and materials.
  • Act as a liaison between all STEM stakeholders and STEM networks.
  • Ensures proper adherence to District policy and procedures, and ensures proper adherence to applicable contract language that is in effect for the District.
  • Provides opportunities for parent and community forums to demonstrate the relevance of technology (STEM) in education.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
