Grain Valley High School has an opening for a High School Counselor for the 2021-22 school year.  The qualified candidate must have an appropriate or provisional Missouri State Counseling Certificate for grades 9-12.  Teaching certificate and experience preferred.  Masters in school counseling preferred.



Job Responsibilities

• Counsel with students individually and in small groups
• Make referrals and work effectively with community agencies and organizations
• Consult with parents on school related concerns
• Aid in course planning, school scheduling, post-secondary planning, and scholarships
• Help students evaluate career interests and choices
• Provide responsive services to assist with student safety and well-being
• Provide resources and support teachers in implementation of bullying, character, personal safety, and suicide awareness programs
• Participate as a member of team meetings to support students academically and behaviorally
• Other duties as assigned for the purpose of serving school counseling needs of students, parents, and staff.
