OVERVIEW
Académie Lafayette, a French immersion public charter school in Kansas City Missouri, is looking for K - 5 Assistant Principal for the school year 2021 - 2022. The K-5 Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the management of the K-5 Campus in recruiting, supervising, and providing leadership and development opportunities to the faculty. The Assistant Principal will work with the building principal to promote the success of every student in a collaborative school culture that is supportive, equitable and inclusive.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Responsibilities
The K-5 Assistant Principal assists the Principal in all facets of management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the K-5 Campus. This includes providing recommendations to the Principal regarding the hiring, retention and assignment of faculty. The K-5 Assistant Principal participates in the observation, supervision and evaluation of the K-5 Campus faculty. The K-5 Assistant Principal works with the K-5 Campus faculty to implement, evaluate and revise, as needed, the K-5 Campus curricula. The K-5 Assistant Principal provides academic guidance; maintains complete academic records for all students on the K-5 Campus; oversees the methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement; and oversees the grading and the reporting of standards used by the K-5 Campus.
Administrative Responsibilities
The K-5 Assistant Principal coordinates with the Admissions and Communication Office regarding the recruitment and retention of students. The K-5 Assistant Principal participates in the Academic Leadership meetings and the Conseil d’Ecole meetings.

The K-5 Assistant Principal shall be assigned with the following additional tasks:
- Developing, implementing and overseeing the disciplinary process, which includes, but is not limited to creating alternative classrooms for work completion, when needed and providing intervention methodologies to de-escalate emotion charged situations
- Coaching teachers on how to prepare for parent meetings regarding disciplinary issues
- Conducting parent meetings regarding disciplinary issues
- Addressing parent concerns regarding educational, interpersonal and emotional issues with their student
- Collaborating with teachers and parents to create improvement plans for both academic and behavioral issues
- Managing the CARE Team for the K-5 campus
- Developing a yearly professional development plan for teachers
- Developing (with the Principal) the K-5 Campus class/teacher schedule
- Maintaining a strong partnership with parents based on clear and timely communication
- Coordinating with the Middle School Principal for a successful transition program for students transitioning from the Primary School to the Middle School
- Conducting weekly K-5 building meetings to guide faculty in planning activities
- Coordinating with the Principal on the integration and alignment of the French curriculum and the Missouri Learning Standards.
- Coordinating with the Principal and the faculty on the implementation of the student behavior management systems (PBIS, Citizenship Education Program)
- Communicating with the Principal regarding the general program; upcoming activities and events; and on-going concerns or issues with the K-5 Campus.
- Providing support to create a cohesive Académie Lafayette school community and leadership team
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Master's degree or higher in educational administration from a college or university having an educational administration degree program approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required
- Current Administrator’s Certification issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, preferred, or documented educational leadership training
- Fluent in French
- Excellent communication skills
- Preferably three years’ experience as an administrator or assistant administrator in a middle or primary school
