SALARY:  Based on 2021-2022 Administrative Salary Schedule (pending approval of the Board of Education); commensurate with education and experience       
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:               
  • Missouri Administrative certification in Special Education
  • Special Education Teacher or School Psychologist certification
  • Masters Degree in Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Supervise and coordinate special education programming for qualifying students.
  2. Assist in the adaptation of school policies to include special education needs.
  3. Recommend policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional children.
  4. Coordinate and facilitate the district's homeless student program.
  5. Coordinate and facilitate the district's English Language Learners' program.
  6. Supervise and coordinate home instruction for homebound or hospitalized students.
  7. Coordinate transportation services for eligible students in special services placements.
  8. Keep informed of all legal requirements and financial aid governing special education.
  9. Provide leadership in establishing new programs and developing improved understanding of existing programs.
  10. Establish procedures for placement, referral, evaluation, psychological examination, assignment, and reappraisal of students with regard to the special services program.
  11. Assist in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of special education personnel.
  12. Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of students receiving special services.
  13. Supervised preparation of attendance reports and similar data necessary for reimbursement of funds, collecting of tuition for out-of-district students and similar fiscal matters.
  14. Develop budget recommendations and provide expenditure control on established budgets for special education.
  15. Interpret the objectives and programs of the special education services to the Board of Education, district administrators, district staff, and public at large.
  16. Coordinate and facilitate programs to supplement regular classroom instruction for students with learning or visual disabilities.
  17. Consult with parents enrolled in the program.
  18. Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development as related to current literature, new research findings, attending appropriate professional meetings and seminars.
  19. Participate in the planning and implementation of special education staff development.
  20. Other related duties as assigned.
