Job Description:
Summary: The job of School Bus Trainer / Road Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of providing classroom instruction and behind the wheel training of both new and experienced bus drivers; addressing school bus regulations and safety procedures; identifying training requirements; and maintaining required documentation for audit in compliance with state certification and district/state/federal guidelines. Also to perform check rides and road observations to insure all safety obligations are met.

Job Responsibilities:
· Interacts daily with drivers, attendants and other employees to ensure safety standards and obligations are met.
· Communicates emergency situations, accidents, unsafe conditions, acts or any other safety event that will disrupt service.
· Inform manager of any communications, personnel, of incidents that may be or become problem areas and effect the daily operation.
· Ensure that all safety programs are implemented and adhered to.
· Participate as a part of an emergency response network when there is a problem.
· Coordinates in a professional manner with school officials to ensure safe, efficient and timely pupil transportation services.
· Submits required reports and paperwork to supervisor in a timely fashion.
· Ensures compliance with district policies and procedures. Discusses any breach of policy and procedure noted with the Director.
· Teach classroom and behind-the-wheel training to trainers, new trainees and bus drivers needing improvement and driver certification renewals.
· Conducts evaluations of trainees and provide training and leadership on improvements needed.
· Conduct evaluations of drivers and monitors and make recommendations concerning progress.
· Instructs commercial driver’s license (CDL) classes; assist with standard first aid classes. Assist in providing informative and productive in-service meetings for drivers.
· Deliver training of prescribed policies & procedures of the District.
· Maintain accurate training records and filing system.
· Conducts road observations and check rides.
· Communicate professionally and effectively with school officials, parents, students, drivers, monitors and district personnel to resolve relative issues.
· Prepare monthly and weekly reports.
· Monitors on-time performance. Communicates routing issues, emergency situations, accidents/incidents, unsafe conditions/acts or any other event that will disrupt service to the customers.
· Works with routing with regards to stop issues, route timeliness, parent concerns, etc.
· Search for ways to improve the department, its workplace, and informing management of these suggestions.
· Work with other staff in conducting routine audits.
· Maintain appearance, condition of district assigned vehicle and report any defects to Maintenance.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school education or equivalent. Possess a valid Class B CDL license (or higher) with “S” (school bus) and “P” (passenger) endorsements. Must hold a current Missouri State School Bus Instructor Certification or must be able to obtain said certification within the first twelve (12) months of employment. General computer skills; excellent communication & public relations skills; excellent people skills; able to handle multiple tasks easily. Previous school bus driving experience required. Driver training experience preferred. Excellent driving and attendance record. Comfortable in teaching a class classroom, and working in small to large groups.
