Job Description:
The Soulard School is seeking a part-time Instructional Support Paraprofessional to join our school community for the 2020-2021 school year. Essential training will be provided by The Soulard School prior to working with students and on an ongoing basis.  This is a perfect opportunity for those studying to become educators or therapists to gain meaningful training and experience in the field.
Major Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and/or small-group behavior and academic support for students with autism in a general-ed early elementary classroom.
  • Collaborate with Special Education Director/Assistant Principal and classroom teachers to ensure that students make progress toward academic, behavioral and social goals as established in an IEP.
  • Collect data and follow protocols for students as directed by the Special Education Director/Assistant Principal. 
  • Maintain and support organization of instructional tools and student materials
  • Adhere to programming and any programming changes with fidelity
  • Contribute to creating a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, as well as strong communication between home and school.
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues and peers.
Education and Experience 
  • Passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment test; OR documentation of 60+ hours of college credit at an accredited college or university required.  Missouri substitute teacher certification would suffice. 
  • College degree and/or working toward degree in special education, education or related field preferred
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum preferred

  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Responsive and adaptable to changing needs

  • Physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.

General Pay and Contract Provisions
  • This is a 10-month position to begin 8/10/2019.
  • This position is 29 hours a week, $19/hour
