Job Description:
The Arch Community School (TACS) is searching for a .6 FTE (three days a week) elementary physical education and health teacher for the 21-22 school year that is ready to dig in and work hard to develop the active side of students in our community. We believe building relationships built on trust will open the doors to deeper learning for each child. 

TACS Physical Education and Health Teacher
The physical education teacher will facilitate a classroom where students engage in directed learning and are encouraged, supported and taught to be inquisitive learners and positive school community members. They will collaborate with school leadership, parents and other teachers in the pursuit of success for each of their students.

Physical Education/Health Teacher interests include:
  • Finding the potential in each, and every child
  • Sparking a healthy attitude in each, and every child
  • Partnering with other staff, parents and community resources to support student growth
  • An understanding of “Trauma Informed” approach to education
  • A corrective and restorative approach to discipline
Physical Education Teacher responsibilities include
  • Development of curriculum maps, lessons and units of study that meet or exceed requirements of Missouri Learning Standards.
  • Ongoing assessment of student progress and achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on academic data.
  • Use of data to tailor instruction to meet individual student academic and social needs with a goal of every student performing on-grade level or above in all subject areas.
  • Creation of a strong classroom culture that will develop a classroom and school culture that cultivates perseverance, creativity and collaboration with peers to solve problems.
  • Participation in professional development activities and team meetings.
  • Creation of a positive behavior plan to set routines and procedures enhancing engagement in learning activities.
  • Maintain frequent communication and engagement with students’ families, colleagues, and other school stakeholders.
  • Participate as an active member of the community to provide stewardship of the school and adherence to its mission and guiding principles.
  • Maintaining a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines, and commitments to self, students, and the community.
  • Lessons that meet the needs of social distancing during the covid-19 pandemic
  • Other duties as assigned
