Job Description:
Grain Valley Schools is looking for a Director of Informational Technology. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the streamlined operation of the technology staff/department and ensure it aligns with the district’s strategic plan
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and design all operational activities of the technology department as well as provide direction and support for technology solutions that enhance district operations
  • Provide leadership and direction for the technology department which include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; employee relations; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for IT infrastructure solutions that align with the district requirements (including Data center, Help Desk Management, Web, Operations, Storage, Voice/Data/Networks, Operating Systems, Database, Servers, Quality, Compliance and Security)
  • Provide leadership for short-and long-range planning for all technology initiatives
  • Plan, purchase, and oversee acquisition and implementation of district hardware and software
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate the technology budget and financial resources (general fund, ERATE, grants)
  • Collaborate with other instructional leaders to determine appropriate use of technology to meet instructional goals
  • Establish and maintain priority levels and response times for all technical requests in the district
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Experience, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • A four-year degree in education, technology or equivalent relevant work experience is required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Education or Administration certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local and wide area networks, Internet and intranets
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and administrators
  • Knowledge of state and federal policies as they apply to educational technology
  • Ability to organize, set priorities, and work effectively under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines and schedules
  • Knowledge of educational technology and 21st Century learning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle information with utmost confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate appropriately to all district staff members, students and parents
  • Have listening skills sufficient to receive inquiries and complaints and respond appropriately
  • Ability to successfully provide leadership, direction and teambuilding
Work Environment:
  • 12 month position
  • Reports to Assistant Superintendent of Support Services
  • Start date: July 1, 2020
