Job Summary:
Farmington R7 School District is proudly in search of a Head Wrestling Coach for its newly approved girls wrestling program.  This position has the unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up.  The girls wrestling program will have complete autonomy from the boys wrestling program. This includes a separate wrestling and locker room facility specific to the girls wrestling program.  While the Girls Head Coach will have as much autonomy as desired the opportunity exists to work with the boys program to maximize success of both programs and support a positive and successful wrestling environment.  
 
The quality candidate would possess a growth mindset and the desire and ability to develop and implement a long range plan to increase girls participation, plan and implement successful training plans and develop a team culture congruent to the philosophy of Farmington R7
 
Farmington R7 has the following teaching positions open: Elementary Physical Education, Early Childhood Teacher, Elementary Teacher.  Candidates that are interested in the Head Girls Wrestling Coach position but lack certification in one of the available teaching areas are encouraged to apply.  Farmington R7 strives to find solutions to get quality candidates to our district.
 
This coach will be responsible for coaching student athletes in wrestling training, techniques, and strategies to prepare them for athletic competition as well as motivating student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
 
Education and Experience:
  • An extensive competitive wrestling background is preferred
  • Experience as a wrestling coach preferred
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
  • Experience in administrative work and/or supervision is preferred
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport
  • Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.
  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Coordinates meeting and facility use for practices and events with the Director of Athletics/Activities.
  • Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
  • Supervise, coach and instruct student athletes individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, training and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes players during meets and practices to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Determines competition strategies based on team competencies.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Monitors academic performance of student athletes to ensure eligibility requirements are met; Encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Administers first aid when necessary.
  • Respond to risk management/emergency situations and notify emergency responders when appropriate.
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
  • Follows MSHSAA and District regulations.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the media, booster clubs, service clubs and other organizations.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance and requisitioning of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
