Job Description:
Summary:  To coordinate the functions of the transportation garage: assist in creating routes, supervising bus drivers and monitors, set and monitor policy, manage budget, work with the shop manager in coordinating routine maintenance, maintain related records, and ensure compliance with district policy, local, state and federal requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
  1.  Direct daily garage operations.  Oversee staff in their role as drivers, monitors, training and safety personnel in operating procedures and schedules.
  2. Interacts daily with drivers, monitors, maintenance, safety and other employees to ensure service requirements and obligations are met.
  3. Communicate with staff concerning District goals, objectives, and policies.
  4. Prepare weekly and monthly reports, administer budget, and provide input on budget within scope of responsibility.
  5. Oversee compliance with labor standards and resolve labor/employee grievances.  Hire, train, and motivate staff.
  6. Ensure that all safety programs are implemented and adhered to.
  7. Determine availability of drivers and monitors regularly assigned to routes to fill vacancies as needed.
  8. Handle parent and school official complaints, take reports of late buses, breakdowns, accidents and report to proper individual to prevent interruption of service, log complaints/incidents.
  9. Coordinates with school officials to ensure safe, efficient and timely pupil transportation services.
  10. Coordinates emergency response network when there is an accident or other emergency.
  11. Submits required reports and paperwork to the Director in a timely fashion.
  12. Approves payroll time sheets and route exception sheets.
  13. Ensures compliance with company policies and processes.  Discusses any breach of policy and procedure noted with Director.
  14. Communicate professionally and effectively with school officials, parents, students, drivers, monitors and company personnel to resolve issues.
  15. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in school transportation required
  • Prior managerial experience preferred
