The Special Services Administrator is responsible for the leadership, management, and coordination of local district special education programs and services in compliance with the state and federal requirements for the implementation of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act, IDEA.
Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provides direction for the special education program, including long and short-range goals
  2. Ensures the implementation of the process of special education
  3. Provides for the organization, management and positive leadership of special education instruction throughout the district
  4. Homeless coordinator
  5. Migrant Education coordinator
  6. Designated District Coordinator for Missouri School District Administrative Claiming
  7. Homebound coordinator
  8. Homeschooled coordinator
  9. ADA coordinator
  10. Section 504 coordinator
  11. Special Education
  12. P.A.T. coordinator
  13. Federal Programs coordinator
  14. Promotes appropriate staff development in special education
  15. Communicates standards of expected performance
  16. Provides for the effective day-to-day operation of the special education program
  17. Promotes and maintains a positive climate as part of a cooperative effort
  18. Demonstrates effective problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills
  19. Demonstrates effective organization skills
  20. Demonstrates knowledge of the legal basis of special education
  21. Provides recommendations for the development and adoption of district policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all special education requirements
  22. Provides for the implementation of district policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all special education requirements
  23. Participates in professional growth activities
  24. Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility
  25. Maintain the confidential nature of all school-related matters
  26. Supervise during curricular and assigned extra-curricular activities
  27. Successfully complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
