Job Description:
The Crystal City School District is currently accepting applications for a special education teacher certified in Mild Moderate Cross Categorical, Emotionally Disturbed/Behavioral Disordered for the 2020-2021 school year. This position is for a self-contained setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Special Education Teaching Certification required for this position.
  2. Knowledge of and ability to apply principles and methods of developing an instructional and behavioral management system.
  3. Experience and expertise in student behavior management and collaborative problem solving.
  4. Implement Behavioral and Functional Assessments for students.
  5. Participates in the IEP process by attending IEP meetings, collaborating with IEP team members, preparing IEP paperwork, and delivering instruction to enable students to make IEP goal progress
  6. Maintains accurate, complete and correct paperwork as required by law, district policy, and administrative procedures
  7. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students in all areas of instruction
  8. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  9. Prepares for students assigned and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  10. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  11. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  12. Takes all necessary and responsible precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  13. Assists in the administration and implementation of all policies and rules governing student conduct.  Develops reasonable rules addressing classroom behavior and procedures in the classroom that maintains fair and just order in the classroom
  14. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Special Education Certification in Mild/Moderate, Emotionally Disturbed/Behavior Disordered
Knowledge of behavior management, behavior analysis and supports, and group dynamics.
Knowledge of key factors of emotional disturbance.
Ability to work collaboratively with parents, students, and other professionals.
