Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Help lead the Givens staff, students and families, current and future, through the school's transition to a neighborhood elementary school set to launch in August of 2021.
  • In addition to being the principal of Steger Sixth Grade Center in 2020-21, demonstrate support and care for the staff of Steger Sixth Grade Center as they merge with Hixson Middle School (7-8th grade) to implement a 6-8th grade middle school in 2021-22.
  • Ensure alignment of the written curriculum, school and district programs, and classroom pedagogy with the district's mission, vision, and equity resolution.
  • Demonstrate competence with using data to inform decision-making and the capability to lead others in their use of this information to care for the academic, social and emotional needs of the diverse student body.
  • Implement the teacher and staff evaluation processes with fidelity and in a manner that is conducive to staff's learning.
  • Utilize a comprehensive communication plan, which responds to the needs of stakeholders, reflects the most current communication tools, and promotes engagement with others both inside and outside the schools.
  • Partner with the school's Parent Teacher Organization to support the children and staff at Givens and Steger.
  • Create a culture in which new and fresh approaches are openly shared and tried, and staff and students can learn from their failures and successes.
  • Seek out partnerships and external resources to improve the educational experience for the children and adults at Givens and Steger.
  • Demonstrate competence and care in approaching each day focused on creating an educational environment in which the academic and personal needs of all students are met so they can be happy, healthy, confident, and contributing members of the school community. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to change and the necessary skill set to help lead students, staff, and families through the change process in an empathetic manner.
  • Recruit, hire and develop staff who fully believe in the school/district vision and will enhance learning for all and/or the effectiveness of the schools' operations.
  • Respond to requests for information from the central office, state, and federal government, and others in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Master’s Degree, Ed.D., and/or Ph.D. in school administration
  • Experience as an administrator
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
  • Meet state certification requirements
