  • Missouri certification.
  • Elementary Principal certification or Special Education Director certificate preferred.
  • Education Masters Degree with Specialist preferred.
  • Early childhood teaching and administrative experience preferred.

  • Background in state and federal grant management preferred.
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent and Executive Director of Academic Services
JOB GOAL: To ensure the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the early childhood programs’ care. The Director, Early Childhood is directly accountable for overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, professional development, staff and facilities management, financial management, legal compliance, and long-range planning.

  • Participates in development of program goals aligned with the educational goals of the district.
  • Develops and implements educational programming according to goals and strategic plan of the district.
  • Works with staff to develop a cohesive early childhood program blending the educational practices of Parents as Teachers, Community Education Preschool, Employee-Paid Preschool, Early Childhood Special Education, and Title I Preschool.
  • Coordinates and oversees the state and federal grant guidelines associated with Parents as Teachers, Early Childhood Special Education, and Title I.
  • Maintains state accreditation and/or licensing standards for the early childhood program.
  • Maintains student records in accordance with established enrollment procedures and guidelines.
  • Hires and supervises preschool staff members, including jointly providing new employee orientations and regular feedback and evaluations.
  • Plans and provides professional development on an ongoing basis to involve staff in assessing and improving instruction, improving program communication, improving working relationships in the center and among schools, and improving ways to provide support to staff.
  • Maintains communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters and parent handbook; implement community outreach activities to maintain and promote positive community relationships.
  • Maintains positive relationships with community agencies.
  • Manages, plans and assesses the budget from beginning to end.
  • Mantaines a business model that generates revenue.
  • Monitors student progress.
  • Provides for a safe, orderly, positive preschool program environment.
  • Provides for a systematic program evaluation for continuous improvement.
  • Manages resources, personnel and time in order to provide for effective and efficient operation of the early childhood program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.              TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month position. Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education.  Benefits according to Board policies.

CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
