Job Title:            District Coordinator of School Improvement
Reports to:         Chief Academic Officer
FLSA Status:       Exempt
Contract Days:   11 months
Salary:  $70,000 - $75,000
JOB SUMMARY
The lead instructional specialist/curriculum coordinator works under general supervision of the Chief Academic Officer to perform a variety of professional work to assist in the coordination of instruction, assessment, and the curriculum used in the school district.  The position is responsible for interpreting curriculum changes, updating teachers and principals of those changes, and ensures instruction is aligned with curriculum goals.  Monitors and supports progress towards accomplishment of school improvement goals and objectives. Provides effective and frequent communication with schools. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with schools and works as a data coach to assist schools with disaggregation of student achievement data from assessments to impact instruction. Also has additional duties on the district level to assist the Chief Academic Officer with major instructional and curriculum initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Facilitate teacher’s understanding and implementation of curriculum and effective instructional practices.
  2. Develop teacher’s capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.
  3. Foster collaboration and teacher development and leadership.
  4. Create positive peer interactions and coordinate activities to increase teacher collaboration.
  5. Identify needs, develop programs and provide staff development to increase teacher effectiveness (in small and large groups).
  6. Analyze lesson plans for alignment to standards and quality lesson design. Monitor lesson plans in advance.
  7. Track student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of teacher coaching.
  8. Assist and ensure that student intervention instruction is implemented with fidelity.
  9. Provide clear and direct feedback to teachers based on analysis of practices.
  10. Identify and mentor teachers in order to develop teacher instructional leadership.
  11. Create detailed coaching plans with focused goals and measures of success.
  12. Support teachers’ achievement of goals by using coaching strategies to implement instructional practices (such as, co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, lesson development, observing, etc.)
  13. Locate and apply for funding opportunities for new programs.
  14. Assist with the alignment and development of assigned PK-12 curriculum based upon continuing systematic review and analysis.
  15. Effectively collaborate with and serve as liaison between assigned campus and the Academic Services Department regarding student assessment, improvement planning, and curriculum and instruction.
  16. Facilitate and provide assistance with the alignment of campus and district curriculum.
  17. Provide instruction at the campus level to improve identified areas of need; including model teaching and one-on-one instruction with students.
  18. Collaborate with instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
  19. Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in education
  • Valid Missouri State teacher’s certificate.
  • Five years’ successful experience as a teacher. 
  • Experience in leading school improvement efforts.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing achievement data.
  • Experience in facilitating and training groups of adults in an educational setting.
