Job Description:

Grain Valley Schools is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and collaborative teacher to serve as a middle school science and social studies teacher at North Middle School.  We have one opening in 7th grade and one in 8th grade.  High-quality candidates must have appropriate middle school certification in science and social studies, OR certification in one of these areas and be willing to obtain certification in the other core content area within a year’s time.  

The position will require two hours of social studies and two hours of science instruction.  This teacher will serve on a three-person team and is expected to provide instruction that meets the district goals, missions, and benchmarks, and create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.  All candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to their own ongoing professional growth. 

  • Plans for and guides the learning process to help students achieve program objectives
  • Selects and utilizes effective instructional methods and learning materials
  • Establishes a cooperative relationship with all assigned students
  • Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home
  • Administers subject specific assessments, district and/or state tests for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning
  • Analyzes test data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement by directly impacting
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, administration and/or to seek the assistance of district
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe, optimal learning
  • Engages in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development
  • Maintains regular and dependable attendance
