TITLE:                     District Elementary (K-5) ELA Curriculum Coordinator.  Twelve month administrative level position.
QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicant shall hold a valid Elementary Missouri teacher’s certificate and a minimum of a Master’s degree.  Applicant must have five years of elementary teaching experience. Graduate level work in Curriculum and Instruction or Administrative Leadership is preferred.  Prior successful leadership experience is required. Applicant must be able to demonstrate extensive understanding of effective reading, writing and literacy development.

REPORTS TO:          Assistant Superintendent- Curriculum and Instruction
JOB GOAL:              Provides professional leadership in the development, implementation and oversight of the District’s K-5 English Language Arts program to ensure effective literacy instruction in all K-5 classrooms.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Serve on the Fort Zumwalt Curriculum Council and as chairperson of the Elementary IAC.  Direct all committee functions.  
  2. Develop, coordinate, and monitor the comprehensive instructional program for K-5 English Language Arts and Reading. Ability to long range plan for instructional needs.  
  3. Maintain an active and visible leadership role throughout the district.  Considerable time will be spent working with teachers and administrators in buildings.  
  4. Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data, and use it to guide instructional decisions.  
  5. Provide Teacher, Administrator and Instructional Coach professional development in the areas of instructional practice, content knowledge, pedagogy and effective use of data on an ongoing basis.  
  6. Ability to effectively work with groups and individuals employing outstanding problem solving and conflict resolution skills. 
  7. Ability to observe teacher practice and provide feedback.  Provide instructional support to teachers and other staff members as necessary.  Maintain a strong working relationship with Special Education personnel to ensure that all students are exposed to grade level curriculum.  
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to effectively interact with groups of teachers, administrators, other district level personnel and parents.
  9. Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
  10. Serve as the District representative to state and local content area meetings. Actively participate in state level activities. 
  11. Attend trainings and conferences as appropriate to enhance job skills.
  12. Compile budgets and cost estimates based on program needs.
  13. Maintain a working knowledge of Board and State Department policies and procedures for curriculum development and the administration of all assessments.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The District Curriculum Coordinator will be appointed for a period not to exceed one year and will be directly responsible to the Superintendent or his/her designee. Work hours will be consistent with district office.  The District Curriculum Coordinator will be a certified teacher. The calendar will be consistent with the twelve (12) month Building Administrator Work Calendar.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
