Head Football Coach at South High

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assume responsibility for coordination of the high school football program grades 9-12
  • Use sound and acceptable coaching/teaching techniques in all phases of the program
  • Organize safe and effective practice sessions
  • Develop and delegate specific job tasks for assistant(s)
  • Develop and adhere to an efficient and technically sound conditioning and injury prevention and treatment program
  • Develop in conjunction with the Principal/Activities Director a sound system for equipment accountability
  • Establish a working rapport with, and is directly responsible to the Principal/Activities Director
  • Adhere to all district and school policies regarding the athletic/activities program
  • Model good sportsmanship and enforce sportsmanlike behavior among the players/team members at all times
  • Establish good public relations in the school and community including the football booster club and youth football
  • Coach individual participants in the fundamental and advanced skills necessary to develop their full potential in the sport/activity involved
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate the team and individual players
  • Earn respect from the players/team members
  • Develop a firm, fair, and consistent discipline system for the team and for individual players/members
  • Follow proper procedures in handling discipline problems
  • Cooperate with maintenance staff, transportation staff, and others who are involved in supporting the activities program
  • Adhere to budget guidelines for the sport/activity
  • Arrange for contacts with appropriate college recruiters for players/team members
  • Attend clinics, workshops, and professional organizations as related to coaching area
  • Make an effort to improve coaching strategies and techniques
  • Evaluate assistant(s) following district procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
