Job Description:
The Charter School Liaison for the University of Missouri Charter School Sponsorship Office represents the office in working with sponsored schools in Kansas City, as well as with educational partners and community stakeholders.  The office has three team members, two in St. Louis and one in Kansas City, and reports to the Dean of the College of Education in Columbia.  The team works closely together via email, calls, and periodic meetings in person.

MU sponsors four charters in Kansas City:  Frontier Schools (4 campuses), Genesis School, KIPP KC, and Lee A Tolbert Community Academy.  The KC Liaison, in conjunction with other team members, conducts quarterly visits to each campus, maintains communication with school leaders, and attends governing board meetings and additional school meetings, as needed.

In addition to working directly with schools, the liaison represents the office at meetings within the KC educational community, DESE representatives, and various organizations and community partners.

Charter school sponsorship is unique work--a balance of respecting the autonomy of the sponsored public charter schools while holding them accountable to adherence to state and federal law and fulfilling the terms of their charter.  The work is engaging and challenging--and never dull.

We are seeking applicants with knowledge of school operations, including instruction, basic finance, assessment, and board functions.  We do not require particular background or certification.  The position requires some evening and weekend work, so hours are flexible to accommodate this.  The successful candidate will demonstrate skill in working with a variety of people with knowledge and flexibility.

Interested applicants are encouraged to email a letter of interest and a current resume or curricula vitae.  Also, complete the MU application process at https://erecruit.umsystem.edu/psc/tamext/COLUM/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM_FL.HRS_CG_SEARCH_FL.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_SCHJOB_FL&Action=U&TargetFrameName=None
